"I am working on my ankle mobility everyday and it still isn't getting any better, what should I do?"

✔️Answer: Where are you feeling your ankle stretches? If it’s in the front of your ankle you need to see a physical therapist or chiropractor for joint mobilizations and taping for a possible anterior ankle impingement.
•
Also, assess your tibial rotation. (Swipe right to see a demo!) ➡️ If this is limited, you might need to work not just on flexing and pointing, but on side to side motion to open your ankle.

“Pull your shoulder blades together!”

👂🏽Who else has heard this cue while in the gym?
•
Our shoulder blades are made to move along our rib cage and the position of our rib cage is dependent on our mid-back posture.
•
Mid-back posture can be too flexed, slumped, extended, or flat (more common among athletes.)
•
👌🏽We need to assess and know the position of our spine in order to properly cue and control movements in our low back, neck, shoulders, and shoulder blades.
•
Eric Cressey said it best: "... we need to consider the fact that improperly prescribed exercise will make the athlete worse than no exercise at all. So, if you’re not sure, don’t guess."
•
➡️In other words, it is not all about the shoulder blade squeeze!

👋🏽Who has neck pain? Does your mid-back feel tight all the time?

Did you know that the thoracic spine or mid-back contributes to 33% of neck flexion movements and 21% of neck rotation?
•
In other words: if your mid-back is not moving well, your neck and low back are compensating. This typically causes pain and headaches. We see this occurring a lot in movement patterns on the rig including pull-ups and toes to bar!
•
🧠Yep, those horrible headaches may not be as tricky to eliminate as you thought!

As gyms around the country begin to reopen, we encourage you to think about what steps you can take to reduce injury risk.💥
•
Most gym members have had to modify workout routines and utilize different or no equipment. Due to this, you’ll want to take extra time priming your body for the first few weeks back at your gym as well as recovering afterward.
•
👉🏽Use a wall ball-intensive workout for example. To warm up include some moderate to hard intervals on the bike/rower to flush your legs and increase heart rate, cossack squats to open your hips, and lacrosse ball rolling on your mid back!
•
Afterward, take 5 minutes to walk or bike to save your quads, perform child’s pose, and diaphragm breathing to calm your system.
•
