You aren’t thinking about breathing every second of every day, so where does breathing come from and how is it controlled?

In this episode, I will be sharing some of my own findings after applying mindful breathing practices to my own physical activity, as well as why breath work is SO important for your overall health.

The biggest player in our bodies regulation of our breathing is the autonomic nervous system.  Most people go through their day without mindfully recognizing their breathing, the pace of their breath, where it is coming from in their body, etc.

However, if we can learn to gain control of our breathing, we can learn to gain control of our autonomic nervous system.  This, in theory, would allow us to control our bodies regulatory systems and manage the chemicals our body produces that could potentially contributing to disease.

If you missed the first 2 episodes in the series, and would like to gain a better understanding of the different breathing techniques discussed, please go back and listen to episodes 5 and 6.
